Originally developed in conjunction with GreenStep’s in-person LEED Exam Training workshops, this study guide has proved to be an effective tool for thousands of people preparing for the LEED Green Associate exam. The guide encompasses all of the key information needed to pass the exam.

We created this online version of our study workbook in response to many requests from professionals unable to attend one of our in-person workshops.

We believe that many of the LEED exam prep resources available today are born from the idea that "more is better". Their selling point is that if you cover every possibly aspect of what could be on the exam, and simply memorize all their material, you will eventually pass the LEED exam. This does NOT work.

It is our experience that the large majority of participants in our workshops are either part-time or full-time professionals, students, or are actively looking for work. If you are like them, you have a limited amount of time, energy and brain power to devote to studying for the exam and can’t afford to waste valuable time sorting through and/or memorizing information that will NOT be covered on the test. About the Course Provider

Alex Spilger is Principal and Founder of GreenStep and has worked on over two-dozen diverse green building projects and has taught over 40 LEED exam training workshops through organizations such the US Green Building Council (USGBC), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business among others. He has also developed curriculum for UC Berkeley Extension where he teaches a 6-week LEED Project Management course.

He draws from his experience working on over three dozen green building projects to offer this practical and engaging online course designed to prepare you pass the test with confidence – the first time.

His work includes facilitating eco-charrettes, researching green building technologies and policy, and managing both the people and the processes involved with taking projects through LEED Certification.

Alex is an active member of the Northern California Chapter of the USGBC and serves on the USGBC Corresponding Committee for LEED-EBOM. He is also founding board member of GreenLaces.org, a non-profit committed to leveraging the visibility and influence of athletics to create positive change for the planet. Alex is a LEED Accredited Professional, USGBC NCC Faculty, Certified Green Building Professional, AIA Continuing Education Provider, HERS Rater and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from UCLA.
