LEED WE Credit 1: Water Efficient Landscaping: Where can I find Sample Calculations?

Question:

Chris asks: Where can I find (online) a sample of a correct way to fill out the Water Efficient Landscaping form for Commercial LEED? Received a comment back from a submission that the calculations were inconsistent with the standard irrigation coefficients with which I am familiar. Can anyone shed light on this. Appreciate it!

Hi Chris,

Check WE Credit 1 - Water Use Reduction in Commercial Interiors 2009 and you will find that irrigation is not included in the water efficiency calculations.

If you were thinking of New Construction (LEED-NC 2009), then follow WE Credit 1 - Water Efficient Landscaping (pages 179 through 191). It's not online, but there are sample calculations you can follow.

Good luck!

GPWA meaning

In the WE Credit 1 (Water Efficient Landscaping) what does the acronym GPWA stand for? Gallons of Potable Water Applied, or Gallons of Potable Water Annualy? If it is the former, what is the time measurement? GPWA/month? GPWA/Year?

RE: GPWA meaning

Gross Potable Water Applied

GPWA meaning

Gross Potable Water Applied, per what? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Annually?

Thanks!
