Maria asks:
I am already eligible to take the Green Associate Exam and have a GBCI # , however I have not bought a study guide nor signed up for a class yet.
Am i required to take a training/workshop course, or can I just buy a study guide and ... study? And if so, which study guide/book is the best to pass?
Thank You.
Hi Maria,
Thank you for your question.
You are not required to take a workshop or course if you are already eligible for the LEED Green Associate exam.
All of the LEED GA study packages we offer will prepare you for the Green Associate. Here's a breakdown of the options we have, in order of price from high to low:
1) LEED GA Platinum Pack: $225.00
This is a very popular study bundle that includes 8 hours of video training, 8 hours of audio files and a certificate of completion for eligibility to submit to GBCI. It includes a downloadable study guide and exam simulator with seven 100 question exams. **It also includes a free LEED AP Specialty practice exam for when/if you start studying for the LEED AP with Specialty exam.
2) LEED GA Study bundle: $99.99
This bundle includes a range of study tools from 4 hours of video training to audio files to practice tests to downloadable study guide. I used a similar bundle when studying for the LEED AP exam and found that it helped a lot because of all the options, especially the audio files. Great value here and includes certificate of completion to submit to GBCI.
3) LEED GA Study guide and practice exam: $69.99
This combo is a high quality, no frills downloadable PDF practice test and study guide that people have found to be very helpful in studying for the exam. The study guide and practice exam may also be purchased separately.
4) LEED GA Silver Pack: $64.95
This includes everything in the $49.95 package above but also includes downloadable flash cards as well.
5) LEED GA Exam simulator: $49.95
I also used this exam simulator, it was also very helpful. This is also a great value as it comes with seven exams and a study guide as well. This is included in the Platinum Pack, above.
#1 and #2 above include online training which can fulfill the eligibility requirement for taking the LEED GA exam. If you are already qualified for the LEED GA exam, then you may decide to go with one of the lower priced options. If you haven't already, you may alsotry our free LEED GA practice test.
Hope this helps,
Rob

RE: Eligibility for LEED GA exam
Thu, 09/30/2010 - 12:54 — GBGuruHi NS,
In terms of courses providing eligibility, there are online and offline options. Online tend to be less expensive, though no less good in terms of quality of information, and more convenient for the student in terms of scheduling and repetition.
In the Green Associate prep post above, #1 and #2 provide online training that will make you eligible for the LEED Green Associate exam.
If you prefer offline training, consider the two day traditional LEED Green Associate training courses. A two day classroom course will also provide you with the eligibility you are looking for. You can choose by geography and go from there.

LEED better save money as
Sat, 10/02/2010 - 14:05 — Patrick (not verified)LEED better save money as well as the environment or it's a total waste of time. Global warming doesn't matter and no one is motivated to save the planet. Saving the planet is outlandish and obscure and no one could possibly comprehend such an abstract concept, nor could they be motivated to act on it unless they were detached from reality and living in a world where money doesn't matter. Saving the planet starts with saving money so that you can see the change first hand. Once you see the money, you'll bw motivated to save more and if that makes the earth a healthier place to live, then it's a good thing but not the primary motivation.
