The USGBC's LEED green building rating system offers processes for evaluating many different types of buildings from new construction (NC) to existing buildings (EB). However, the system does not rate manufactured green building materials or products.
Your products, depending on what they are, what they are comprised of and if/where they fit within the six (6) LEED categories, may be used by commercial real estate owners or investors to earn "credits" towards LEED certification.
For instance, if your company made denim insulation that was 100% pre-consumer recycled denim and other cotton-fiber/textile that was also 100% recyclable at the end of its useful life, then it would be safe to say that use of your product by a LEED certifiable building would most likely qualify the developer/owner to receive Materials & Resources (MR Credit 4: Recycled Content).

Green Building Products
Wed, 04/01/2009 - 18:42 — test.comHi Jason,
LEED doesn't actually certify products for use in its system as of yet. The use of individual products may qualify a project to earn points towards a LEED Certification based on the characteristics of the products themselves (for instance the greater the amount of recycled content a product contains could result in a greater reward based on a specific LEED Credit).
There are some organizations that provide lists of products that are green...
Good luck!

LEED Producrt Certification?
Mon, 08/22/2011 - 10:11 — Dave P. (not verified)How do we get our products evaluated to learn what rating they would be for contractors and the like? We make a product that is composed of 100% post consumer material and probably qualifies but we need to find out what we must know to be able to talk to that.
Is it still true there is no certification procedure for the products?

Re: LEED Certified Products
Tue, 11/01/2011 - 13:34 — clairemoloHi Ramesh - as the article above states, products (including stainless steel) cannot be LEED certified. They can only contribute to a building's LEED certification.
Dave - Green-buildings.com offers Product Certification Reports that will show potential buyers which LEED points your product might help them to earn.
I hope this helps!
