Question:

WTF?? I have to have LEED experience to become a LEED AP+???!!

Richard asks: "WTF?? I have to have LEED experience to become a LEED AP+???!!"

Yes, according to the Green Building Certification Institute ("GBCI") there are, or at least seem to be, both employment and experience requirements.

In LEED 2009, LEED AP+ candidates must prove (in the application process) that they have LEED project experience through exposure to a specific LEED project. The current LEED AP exam does not require LEED project exposure. Applicants must also agree to have their applications audited for "accuracy" or whatever...

Even to become a LEED Green Associate, applicants must designate what "sustainable field" they are working in. You will need to be employed in a sustainable field or enrolled in a green building and/or LEED education program under the new credentialing program.

It seems there are strong incentives for individuals to rush out and become Legacy LEED APs while there's still time!
