Robin asks: I heard it's better to take the current LEED exam because it's easier to pass... Do I have time to take the LEED exam before it gets harder?
Hi Robin:
The deadline to register for either/both the LEED NC v2.2 (New Construction) and LEED CI v2.0 (Commercial Interiors) exams is March 31, 2009.
March 31st, 2009 at 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) will be the last date and time that LEED AP candidates be able to register for the LEED AP credentialing exams.
As part of the new LEED 2009 system, the LEED NC designation will be replaced with the LEED Building Design and Construction (BD&C) designation and the LEED CI designation will be replaced by LEED Interior Design and Construction (ID&C).
The company that manages the actual testing for the LEED AP exams, Prometric, will still offer scheduling and rescheduling services for the current LEED NC and LEED CI version 2.0 AP exam registrations after the March 31, 2009 registration deadline, with more specific information to announced later in 2009, but actual registration has to occur before the aforementioned date.
GOOD LUCK!!

Experience base
Tue, 03/24/2009 - 20:29 — Anonymous (not verified)I admit I haven't done a comprehensive search, but I have two questions:
1. Under 2009, what extent of experience will be required to take the exam?
2. I admit I let moss grow. If I take NC now, will that grandfather me to take other sections in the future, or is there a direct correlation between LEED areas (ie. existing buildings, which I should have taken)?
LEED AP Experience Requirement
Wed, 03/25/2009 - 16:59 — test.comHi, to take the LEED AP+ exam, candidates must agree to the LEED Disciplinary Policy and the Credential Maintenance Requirements as outlined at the GBCI website. You must also document professional experience on a LEED project within the last 3 years, with verification through LEED online or employer attestation... and finally candidates are required to submit to an application audit. 5-7% of all applications will be audited and candidates will be notified immediately if chosen for an audit and will be advised of your eligibility within 14 days.
As far as additional specialty areas, you may take additional specialty areas at any time (such as EB: O&M) and add those to your roster. You may make also a request to the USGBC to alter your specialty area (say from NC to EBOM) if you are more focused on EB than NC.
Good luck!
