If you don't have a friend who can lend you the books, online message boards are excellent places to find used (sometimes free) LEED Reference Guides.

While free LEED reference guides are hard to come by, the following resources are available for free:

1) LEED Green Associate Candidate Handbook

2) LEED Green Associate Preparation Materials

3) Free LEED Green Associate Practice Test

4) Free LEED Green Associate webinar Includes excellent tips and tricks for passing the exam. It is important to use a reputable source for the information you are using for the exam because the materials are updated constantly.

5) Free LEED AP Specialty Exam webinar

There are also many LEED Exam Study Guides available today to help people sort through all the information in LEED and focus on only the important material when preparing for the LEED exams.

Good luck!!

Free LEED Reference Guide

I don't know what area you are in, but here in Atlanta, us GaTech grads have access to the LEED reference guides through the student library. It can be a pain, there is normally a waiting list if you want to actually check it out; but considering the cost of just taking the exam, I was more than happy to jump through a few hoops to avoid buying the book!
