Viki asks: If I agree to enroll in the new LEED 2009 CMP will I become a LEED AP+ immediately?
Viki asks: For existing LEED APs, to become a LEED AP+ can be done by enrolling in the new tiered 2009 system... but what is the time line of this arrangement? Will I become a LEED AP+ immediately after I have signed the agreement documents?
Answer: Hi Viki, yes, as soon as you enroll in the new tiered system of LEED 2009 (i.e. by agreeing to the Credentialing Maintenance Program (CMP) and signing the Disciplinary Policy) you will be able to use one of the new specialty designations (O&M, BD&C, ID&C) after your name. For existing LEED APs, enrollment must occur between June 30, 2009 and June 30, 2011.
There is no fee for current LEED APs to enroll, but after June 30, 2011, the credential maintenance fee will be $50 every 2 years.
LEED APs credentialed under NC, CI, or EB will automatically enroll in the specialty that corresponds to the exam track under which they were originally credentialed. However, LEED APs may request to enroll in a different specialty among O&M, BD&C and ID&C, if it is more applicable to their field of work.
You can view the Disciplinary Policy here
If you choose not to enroll in the CMP, you will be designated a LEED AP without a specialty title in the LEED Professional Directory.
