Hi Jen:

From talking with representatives at GBCI, we believe that "sustainable field of work" is any job that contributes to improving the sustainability of a project or the planet.

LEED Green Associate test is specifically designed to appeal to those people who may be working in more of a support role or on the path towards establishing a career in a sustainable field.

We developed a list of sustainable fields of work in another post and didn't mention volunteering, but I would think that volunteer work/donating time for a non-profit, if it was in a green industry (such as working for Scenic Hudson, Riverkeeper or Save the Bay, etc...) should most assuredly count.

Almost any industry can be linked to sustainability in some way if it is undertaking efforts to improve the environment.

Green Courses of Study

In terms of classes, if you are enrolled in some sort of sustainable education program, whether it is basic green awareness or a specialty area, such as energy efficiency or stormwater management training, that should be sufficient.

Green-Buildings.com offers online and offline training for LEED Green Associates that include Certificates of Completion.

Sustainable field of work - Green building education

I at present work as a Real estate Consultant with CBRE, which has become a green industry leader and started a number of sustainability initiatives. I as such am not involved personally in any of these projects. But, I did research LEED credits and principles for my PM, who was trying to prepare a cost benefit analysis for green buildings.

So, would I qualify for sustainable field of work.

Also, if I take the online LEED prep course, would that be considered an educational program on green principles.

Thanks so much for your time.

sustainable field of work

Hi,
I am qualified as an architect and working as an Interior designer with a architectural firm in Dubai, Godwin Austen Johnson Architects.
According to me architecture & interior design itself is a sustainable field of work. Therefore my query to you is- If I provide sufficient documentation proving my qualification as an architect & also my role in the company I work for, can I be eligible for the Green Associate Exam?
Thank you.

Veena.
