The 8-hour CPSWPP online stormwater training and certification educates and certifies individuals to prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans. Professionals certified as a CPSWPPP are also certified to implement and inspect sites for stormwater compliance.

How This Training Works
This is an online class. Once you have purchased our class, and your order has been processed, you will be sent information about logging into our Online Learning Managements System (LMS).
This training covers the physical techniques as well as the proper reporting and documentation requirements for ensuring compliance under the NPDES Construction General Permit.
At the end of each online module, users take a 20-question exam that is generated from a pool of questions associated with that module. Students will not receive credit for that module until they score a 75% or greater on the exam, and can retake the exam as many times as necessary to do so.
Upon completion of all course modules, students are able to print their certificate for their records and receive a hardhat decal through the mail.
Learning Objectives
This CPSWPPP certification class will provide the student with a fundamental knowledge of all aspects of erosion and sediment control so the CPSWPPP certified person can:
* Make proper and informed decisions on the information to include in the preparation of a compliant SWPPP;
* Measure the design needs of the site due to soils, type and size of construction project and fundamentals of proper erosion and sediment control design techniques;
* Describe and understand proper installation, maintenance and inspection of best management practices;
* Assess a construction site to determine proper stormwater compliance and provide assistance to the construction workers how to maintain a compliant stormwater site; and
* Understand the teamwork and communication necessary between owner, operators, and SWPPP designer so the site stays in compliance throughout the construction project.
The short examination at the end of each class will also assess the students’ ability to comprehend and understand the material presented.
The intended users of this training include civil engineers, environmental engineers, architects, landscape architects, and construction estimators.

Federal Construction General Permit
This online stormwater training course module covers the history of the Clean Water Act and NPDES Program; what is covered under the Construction General Permit; who should obtain the Construction General Permit; how to obtain coverage under the Construction General Permit; the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP); site inspections; termination of the permit coverage; and standard permit conditions.
Basics of Erosion and Sediment Control
This online stormwater training course module covers erosion and how it occurs; impacts of erosion on the environment and the economy; the erosion and sedimentation process; the factors that effect erosion; and the ten basic principles of erosion and sediment control.
Erosion Control
This computer based stormwater training course module covers information on vegetation establishment; topsoil and fertilizers; mulch and compost; rolled erosion control devices; and surface roughening.
Sediment Control
This computer based stormwater training course module covers proper installation and placement of silt fence; check dams; wattles; inlet protection; pond types; outlet structures; flocculants; dewatering; and turbidity barriers.
Pollution Prevention
This web-based stormwater training course module covers good housekeeping, management of solid waste, sanitary waste, and hazardous waste; concrete washout; dust control; and construction exits.
How to Inspect a Construction Site
This web-based course module covers inspection rules and protocol; reviewing the SWPPP for compliance; forms in the SWPPP; updating the SWPPP; site inspections of best management practices (BMPs): proper installation and maintenance of devices; and documentation of inspections.
How to Write a Compliant Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
This online stormwater training course module covers the proper life cycle of a construction Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP); gathering the information needed; how to prepare the Construction General Permit application (NOI); documents and forms; site maps and details; and proper design procedures.
