Background:
With the launch of LEED v3 in 2009, any candidate wishing to take the LEED AP exam must have previous experience with a LEED Registered Project. This experience must be documented in the form of a letter of attestation from a supervisor, client or project manager and describe the candidate's involvement in the project. The candidate's experience must have occurred within three (3) years of the date of the application with the GBCI.

Important: If you are only looking to become a LEED Green Associate, you do not need LEED project experience. This professional experience requirement is only for those who wish to become a LEED AP.

Program Objectives:

Through a thoughtful and practical approach, GreenStep has developed the Professional Project Experience Program to engage LEED AP candidates who wish to become a team member in an actual LEED Registered Project.

Candidates participating in the LEED Professional Project Experience Program will gain important experience and skills, while building the confidence and experience necessary for future professional development in the green building industry.

This program is designed for the professional who is looking to go beyond the basics to gain a deeper understanding of the unique processes involved with managing a LEED project. Through this hands-on program working on a LEED Registered Project, aspiring LEED APs will not only develop a thorough understanding of the various phases of a LEED certification project, but also gain the specific knowledge, tools and skills necessary to help them pass the LEED AP exam. At the completion of the program, participants will have a greater level of understanding of the various LEED credit categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation in Design and how they contribute to a project.

By participating in this unique five (5) week program, LEED AP candidates will learn by doing. Each team member will get involved with LEED Online, learn the tools and systems involved with tracking specific credits and responsibilities and contribute in a material way to the various project requirements which may include, but not be limited to:

* Performing credit calculations
* Analyzing energy model reports
* Evaluating credit costs
* Trouble shooting potential setbacks
* Reviewing documentation for compliance
* Drafting Credit Interpretation Requests (CIR)

Finally, participants will gain the practical knowledge necessary to make an immediate impact at a green building or sustainable design firm, giving them the confidence to guide projects to LEED certification and beyond.

Intended Audience; Number of Seats:
This course is intended for LEED AP candidates and LEED Green Associates seeking to earn the LEED AP credential, as well as for building professionals who have some level of familiarity with the LEED Rating System and who are looking to go beyond the basics and gain a thorough understanding of how to manage the LEED documentation process.

IMPORTANT: This program is limited in size. Once seats are filled, candidates wishing to participate may contact Green-Buildings.com to be added to a waiting list for future projects.

Prerequisite:
Students should preferably be LEED Green Associates or have a basic knowledge of the LEED Rating System.

Methods of Instruction:
This program will be administered by employing various online communication methods including virtual meeting, email and/or chat. The program utilizes an actual LEED Registered Project. Participants will engage in discussions, work through problems, accomplish various tasks, assist in the documentation process, complete take-home assignments and provide feedback.

Our Guaranty:
GreenStep stands behind its program 100%. Upon successful completion of the GreenStep Professional Project Experience program ("GreenStep PPE"), team member participants will receive a Letter of Attestation from GreenStep for acceptance by GBCI as part of the LEED exam application process. If your Letter of Attestation from GreenStep is not accepted by GBCI, the original purchase price of the program will be refunded.
