Lisa asks: Hello, I am interested in pursuing the LEED Green Associate certification. I have been involved in environmental consulting for 3+ years now, but have no experience in the realm of green building. I know that completion or involvement in a green building principles educational program will allow me to quality to sit for the LEED Green Associate exam but am not sure exactly what educational programs (online or in person) will fulfill this requirement. I am in the Orlando area, can you provide any recommendations or information on educational classes that will fulfill the requirement for a Leed Green Associate? Thank you

Answer: Hi Lisa, thank you for your question. In terms of preparation for the LEED Green Associate exam, and fulfillment of the education requirement, you have several options. If you are interested in taking a class online, we recommend this LEED GA online course. The great thing about this course is it may be taken at the student's own pace, in any order and may be repeated as necessary within the 60 day license window. Once you have completed the course, you will receive a certificate of completion which you may submit to the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) along with your application.

For offline options, training is available throughout Florida in major cities like Orlando, Jacksonville and Miami, but that would be a hike. In the Orlando area, you might consider Tampa, which is the closest option for you. If you have additional questions, give us a call toll free at (866)715-7737 for availability in your area.
