About Masaki Shinzato, LEED Green Associate

I am 27 years old and live in Okinawa, Japan. I graduated from San Jose State University in 2009 with a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a concentration in Energy. My passion is green buildings and I hope to work with green buildings in the near future. I also plan to obtain my LEED AP ID+C as well as other credentials that will boost my experience.

I am an Environmental Protection Specialist civilian working on a Marine Corps Base in Okinawa, Japan. I work in the Environmental Branch which covers all environmental related isses on island. My position deals primarily with environmental regulation compliance, however I am involved with a little bit of everything, including energy audits, erosion control, education, environmental degradation mitigation.

I consider myself a strong advocate for environmentalism, and green buildings interest me so much because of the potential to maximize building efficiency my combining technology and simple physical features.
