About Onell Gonzalez, LEED Green Associate

Onell González-Martínez received a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. Took several graduated courses of a Master Degree in Environmental Planning curriculum from the Graduated School of Planning of the UPR, and is currently taking courses for a Master of Science Degree in Green Building of the San Francisco Institute of Architecture in California, US; Mr. González possess the US Green Building Council’s LEED Green Associate credential; he is a lead-based paint inspector accredited by the USEPA and the PR Environmental Quality Board; asbestos materials inspector accredited by the USEPA and the PR Environmental Quality Board; certified mold assessor by the National Association of Environmentally Responsible Mold Contractors; and an indoor air & surface quality accredited professional (IASQ) certified by the Healthier Environment Living Program. He is an active member and Chair of the Education Committee of the USGBC-Caribbean Chapter, member and collaborator of the USGBC-Caribbean Chapter LEED 2012 Regionalization Task Force.In addition, he is a member of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ) and a member of the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA).

As a Green Building educational speaker, he has offered basic green building lectures (LEED-100) and LEED GA Study Courses in the Puerto Rico Architects and Landscape Architects Professional Association (CAAPPR) and in several universities as well.

Mr. González has also received certifications in Agroforestry and Permaculture Design from the Permaculture Institute of Puerto Rico, organization from which he is an active member and collaborator; as such, he has been invited by the University of Puerto Rico to participate as panelist in forums on sustainable development and permaculture design.

Mr. González works for an environmental consulting firm as an environmental building inspector and indoor air quality consultant conducting and overseeing Indoor Air Quality and Environmental Hygiene investigations among others.
