Question: James asks: Approx. how many people have attained the LEED AP certification in the United States (including all specialties)? Same question for Green Associate cert.

Hi James, thank you for your question.

From a search in GBCI’s professional directory, there are almost 140,000 professionals with LEED AP credentials (with our without specialty) listed. There may be more, because not all professionals are listed in the database – but this is a good general estimate.

About 126,000 of the 140,000 LEED APs listed are in the United States.member_gray150

Additionally, there are over 25,000 LEED Green Associates in the world. On February 2, 2012, GBCI announced that there were over 25,000 Green Associates, and that it is the fastest growing LEED credential.

According to GBCI’s database, the U.S. has about 20,500 LEED Green Associates.

This means that there are more than 165,000 professionals with LEED credentials globally.
