About the Instructor
Dr. Sean White
2014 IREC Trainer of the Year
Dr. Sean White was the 2014 Interstate Renewable Energy Council Trainer of the Year. He is an ISPQ Certified Solar PV Master Trainer and has authored several books on solar. He contributed to the development of the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Job Task Analysis and has been a member of the NABCEP PV Installation Professional Technical Committee.

Some students take the whole 40 hours in one week. That is an intensive amount of work, and most students have full time jobs which is why we split the modules out over 6 sections, intended to be taken one per week but its entirely up to you. You can print your certificate of completion as soon as you finish.
NABCEP Advanced Credits Toward The NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification Exam
You need 58 hours of advanced training to sit for the NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification exam. If you passed the NABCEP PV Associate Exam after completing our Solar PV Boot Camp + NABCEP PV Associate Exam Prep course, that got you the first 18 hours. This course covers the additional 40 hours you need.

Dr. Sean White was the 2014 Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Clean Energy Trainer of the Year. He is an IREC ISPQ Certified Independent Master Trainer and a NABCEP Certified PV Installer. He has taught hundreds of solar courses to students all over the world.
Uses 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) for NABCEP Exam
This course is founded on NABCEP’s adoption of the code and the NABCEP exam is still based on the 2014 code. The course also includes a section on changes in the NEC 2017.

Module 1 – Introduction and the National Electrical Code (NEC)
In this opening week you will get to know your instructor, explore various solar resources, do some foundational reading, learn about important terms and concepts that you’ll need to memorize or at least familiarize yourself with, and do an in-depth review of the sections of the National Electrical Code (NEC) that relate to solar PV design and installation.
Module 2 – National Electrical Code – Article 690 – Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems
This week, you will go through Article 690 of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Familiarity with this part of the NEC is critical for solar designers and installers.
Module 3 – National Electrical Code (NEC) – Article 705: Interconnections
This week is devoted to breaking down National Electrical Code (NEC) – Article 705: Interconnections. This is important because many solar PV systems connect to the power grid, which introduces complexity into system design.
Module 4 – Safety and Wire Sizing
This week, you’ll review important safety considerations and precautions and also learn about proper wire sizing.
Module 5 – Solar Trigonometry and Practice Exam for NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification Exam
This week you’ll review the trigonometry concepts you’ll need for solar calculations and take a 70-question practice exam to prepare you for the NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification exam.
Module 6 – Question-by-Question Practice Exam Review
This week, you’ll review each question from the practice exam to understand how to arrive at the correct answer.
